Frequently Asked Questions

Plumbing Questions, Answered

Real, straight-forward answers to the questions our customers ask most. Still stuck? Call 817-774-0748 — we're happy to help.

Emergency Plumbing

Yes. McDade Plumbing has a live local dispatcher available around the clock. After-hours calls are routed to the on-call technician so you talk to a real plumber, not an answering service.

Water Heaters

Standard tank water heaters last 8–12 years on average in North Texas. Tankless units can last 18–20+ years with regular descaling.

Drain Cleaning

We do not recommend them. They can damage older pipes, harm fixtures, and rarely fix the underlying clog. Professional cabling or hydro jetting is safer and more effective.

Leak Detection

We use acoustic listening equipment, thermal imaging, and pressure testing to pinpoint leaks before opening anything up.

Sewer Lines

Yes — and we recommend them before any home purchase and any time you have repeated drain backups.

Pipe Repair

Yes. We repipe homes with failing galvanized or polybutylene plumbing using PEX or copper, depending on your preference.

Fixture Installation

Yes. We install customer-supplied faucets, toilets, sinks, and disposals. We'll let you know up front if the fixture has issues that could cause problems.

Plumbing Inspections

We check water pressure, all visible supply and drain lines, fixtures, water heater, shutoffs, exterior hose bibs, and run a sewer camera if requested.

Pricing & Estimates

Yes. We give upfront, flat-rate pricing before any work begins. No surprise charges.

Maintenance & Prevention

Insulate exposed pipes, disconnect garden hoses before a freeze, let a thin stream of water drip from one or two interior faucets on the coldest nights, and know where your main shutoff is.
